In order to provide a family with a ceremony that marks the conclusion of a life lived with dignity and meaning, we firmly believe in facilitating a ceremony that means the most to you.
Our two locations are available to accommodate your needs for a service that best fits your needs. Often families prefer a service that is not worship-oriented. This may include poetry readings, personal readings or remembrances or it may simply serve as a time of quiet reflection. The decedent may or may not be present for these services. If a committal service at the cemetery is chosen, friends may be invited to this service or it can be private.
At McCrery's, we believe the funeral ceremony is about how your loved one lived their life and your place in that life. We strongly encourage families to bring in photos, mementos and remembrances that will be displayed in the casket or in their own special section. Personalizing the casket, exterior and interior, by color selection, type of fabric, individualized corner pieces or by engraving will help tell the story of your loved one, for all to read. Flowers, the music chosen, prayer cards or memorial folders all contribute to this final chapter. With so many personal and individual choices to be made, it is important that you receive, from one of our staff members, the options that are available to you.
PRE-PLANNING
What Is Pre-Planning?
Pre-planning is the planning of funeral service details, recording of biographical information and selection of merchandise in advance of need.
Why Should You Pre-Plan?
Pre-planning is an important step in overall estate planning. It is a popular and sound idea for many reasons:
– You have the peace of mind of knowing your loved ones will be spared from having to make difficult decisions at a stressful time.
– Funeral goods and services are frozen at today's prices.
– Guarantees the quality of service you feel is most appropriate for you.
– Accepted by Medicaid should you need long term nursing care.
What Are The Types Of Pre-Planning?
FUNDED – When pre-planning is funded, the prices of funeral goods and services are frozen regardless of when services are provided. A commonly used funding vehicle is a funeral home issued insurance policy. A variety of payment plans are available depending on your age.
NON-FUNDED – A non-funded pre-plan is the selection, recording and filing of your service details. No payment is made. Charges are shown at current prices but actual cost will be based on prices in effect at the time services are provided.
What Happens If I Move? Your account is listed under your name and Social Security Number with McCrery Funeral Homes and we are listed as your service provider. If you move your plan is completely transferable.

CREMATION
Just because a family has chosen cremation does not mean that a funeral ceremony to honor the person who has died can not take place. There are several options such as a visitation or gathering of family and friends at the funeral home or another location. A funeral or memorial service can take place either before or after cremation. This service can, again, take place either at the funeral home, place of worship or any other location you may choose.
Every service is tailored to the family at McCrery's and we want to make sure that you are aware of all the options and choices that are available to you. The personalization of your ceremony can be accomplished by:
– Your flower selection
– The music chosen
– Type, color and size of urn
– Prayer cards or memorial folders
– Family collection of photos, remembrances and mementos
Most families choosing cremation decide on burial of the cremated remains. Whether it is private graveside service, or for friends and family, it is an important final moment.
AFTERCARE SERVICES
Included in McCrery's services is our Aftercare Program. At no extra charge, we reach out to every family we serve during their grief to offer caring, information and support. We recognize that the grief journey can be a long and difficult one, that some survivors have minimal support and that special help is often necessary to assist survivors with the transition from life prior to the death of a loved one to a meaningful life after the death.
Our Aftercare Coordinator, Anne Rowan has a masters degree in pastoral counseling and worked in the industry for over 20 years.
Aftercare services are offered for at least a year following the death of a loved one and include:
– supportive correspondence (including a special holiday mailing)
– telephone contacts
– home visits
– individual or family appointments
– reading suggestions (brochures and selected books on loan)
– audiotapes and videotapes (includes audiotapes for the blind)
– referrals to community agencies/resources/support groups
– educational programs
– personalized e-mail communication
