GLADYS MCVEY
Gladys I. (Mitchell) McVey
Age 92, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on March 5, at Newark Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her loving children.
Gladys was the loving wife of 69 years to William McVey, Jr. who predeceased her in 2009. Gladys retired from Wilmington Hospital in 1977 as a telephone operator. She was a loving homemaker who devoted herself to raising her 5 children who will cherish her forever in their hearts. Gladys enjoyed playing Scrabble, doing needlepoint and puzzles but most of all spending time with her family.
She will be deeply missed by her children, William III and his wife Marie, Susan Townsend and her husband Guy, Stephen and his wife Faith, Terrence and his wife Janet and Gerald and his wife Sandra; her grandchildren, Richard, Shawn, Kimberly, Stephen, Joseph, Kevin, Patrick, Erin, Ryan, Melissa, Brian and Michael and her great-grandchildren Kyle, Zachary, Madelyn and James.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Newark Manor for the love and kindness they showed Gladys during her stay. Also, a special thank you to the staff of Seasons Hospice for the care and compassion they extended during Glady’s final days.
Friends may call on Tuesday. March 9, 2010 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 3924 Concord Pike, Wilm., DE 19803. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen R.C. Church, Concord & Sharpley Road, Wilm., DE 19803. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
