JUDITH GAUMER HUTTON

Judith Gaumer Hutton Age 69, formerly of Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Dr. Herman and Elizabeth Gaumer, died on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Maris Grove, Glen Mills, PA Judy graduated from Wilmington Friends School. She absolutely loved little children and majored in early childhood development at Stephens College in Columbia, MO. After college, Judy worked as a nurse’s aid in the pediatric department of Wilmington Hospital and as a teaching assistant at the Wilmington Montessori School. Judy was very active with her two sons; organizing playgroups, helping with school activities and fundraisers, car-pooling, and attending many sporting events. When the University of Delaware started an adult day-care center, Judy became an active volunteer for a number of years. Judy’s other interests included cooking and painting. She also played the piano and organ, mostly by ear. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood and a charter member of its Delaware Chapter G. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, David Glenn Hutton and sons, Steven of Newark, DE and Michael of Hanapepe, Hawaii. Judy is also survived by her brother, Dr. Richard Gaumer of New Orleans, LA and his wife the Reverend Susan; 2 step-brothers, John Harris of Barrington, IL and wife Charlene and Edward McGovern of Pleasanton, CA and wife Cindy and 2 step-sisters, Alice Doering of Wayne, PA and husband Al and Susan Herndon and husband Roy of Santa Ana, CA. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 12 at 1pm, at Newark United Methodist Church, 69 East Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where friends may call after 12:30 pm. Burial will be at Lower Brandywine Cemetery following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Newark United Methodist Church or the Newark Senior Center, 200 White Chapel Drive, Newark, DE 19713.
