Doris P. Patterson
Age 87, of Wilmington, DE, went to be with our lord, her loving husband of 60 years, Alfred and her beloved parents Elsie and James Pryor.
Doris was born in Leslie, Maryland but Delaware was where she grew up and spent her adult years. Doris graduated from P.S.duPont High School and attended Goldie Business College. She began her secretarial career at the Iron Works & Ludlow Company in Edge Moor however soon left that to become a full time homemaker. In addition to providing a loving home for her family, Doris enjoyed painting, gardening, dancing, traveling and was an avid reader. She loved her friends and valued her friendships, which she held as far back as elementary school. She enjoyed the companionship of her “club”, friends that met bi-weekly in each other’s homes for close to 50 years. She was always active in her church and also gave of her time to the community, most recently in the Claymont AARP Chapter and the Mats & Pats organization.
Doris is survived by her daughters Judith Yolles & Pamela Wroten of Virginia and Deborah Demeter of Wilmington, DE, grandchildren, Julia and Kyle Yolles, Elise and Emily Wroten and Meagan Demeter, son-in-laws, Herbert Yolles, James Wroten and Bruce Demeter.
Service and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St.Paul’s U.M.Church Missions Fund, 1314 Foulk Rd., Wilm. DE 19803.
