ELAINE HOUGENTOGLER
Elaine R. Hougentogler, age 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 17, 2009
Elaine devoted her life to service. She was known as a kind, caring person who always thought of others before herself. She tirelessly volunteered with the Salvation Army for over 45 years. Elaine was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary through the Salvation Army, as well as the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (known as RSVP).
Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, Rodney “Ducky” Hougentogler. She is survived by her sister, Dolores Bayless and her husband Richard E., Sr.; and niece, Pamela Elaine Balyess, her family with whom she lived, and who she made her home with; as well as beloved nephew, Richard E. Bayless, Jr. and his wife, Patricia and daughters, Nicole Marie and Jessica Lynn. Elaine is also survived by her nephews, Rodney Hougentogler and his family, Stephen Hougentogler and his family, Scott Hougentogler, and a niece, Beverly Hardy and her family as well as her sister-in-law Joan Geesaman.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11 am at the McCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway (Rt. 2 at Duncan Rd.) Wilmington, DE 19808 where friends are invited to call after 10 am. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made in Elaine’s name to the organization she so loved, the Salvation Army of DE, 400 N. Orange St., Wilm., DE 19801 or the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way N. Castle Commons, New Castle, DE 19720.
Elaine was a loving and caring person, always ready to take care of others before herself and will be dearly missed by her beloved family and all those that knew her.
